ALICE Client Freezes When Launching after Inserting or Changing License Key

This article troubleshoots when the ALICE Client freezes after applying or modifying the license key.

The ALICE Client version is outdated and needs to be updated to the latest version.

Updating the ALICE Client

When updating the ALICE Client, it's recommended that the ALICE Directory is also updated to the latest version.

  1. Log into the ALICE Portal.
  2. In the Downloads section, download the latest version of the ALICE Client.
  3. Run the installer on the PC with the affected client and follow the Install Wizard process.
    • If a license key is requested, insert your license key.
    • If the License Key is already present and needs to be changed, navigate to Settings and under the General Tab, paste the key in the "License Key" field.

Re-installing the ALICE Client

If updating the ALICE Client does not resolve the issue, a clean installation of the software may be required.

Performing these steps will delete all ALICE Client settings. Note any configurations and SIP extension information before performing this process.

  1. Uninstall the ALICE Receptionist Client software in Windows.
  2. Delete the folders in the following locations on the PC. If you’re unsure of how to find these locations, please contact your IT team or the ALICE Support team.
    • C:\ProgramData\WinTech LLC\Alice\Client
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\WinTech LLC\Alice\Client
    • C:\Users\{Windows UserName}\AppData\Roaming\WinTech LLC\Alice\Client
  3. Install the latest version of the ALICE Client software.
  4. Re-insert the license key and reconfigure the ALICE Client.
