Configuring Employee Notification Settings for Visitor Check-in
The following article will explain how to change an employee's notification preference to SMS Messaging to a mobile device, email, Slack, or Teams.
Notification Types
The following notification options are available for Employees:

No Notification: No notification message will be sent to the employee.

SMS Primary Number: Sends SMS Text to the employee's Primary Number.

SMS Secondary Number: Sends SMS Text to the employee's Secondary Number.

SMS Mobile Number: Sends an SMS Text to the employee's Mobile Number.

Email: Sends an Email to the employee's Email Address.

Slack: Sends a message to the employee's Slack client. Refer to the Slack Notification setup guide for more details on enabling Slack notifications.

Teams Channel: Sends a message to a Teams Channel. Refer to the Teams Channel notifications setup guide for more details.

Teams User: Sends a message to the Employee's Teams Account. Refer to the Teams Direct Message setup guide for more details on enabling Teams Channel notifications.
Changing An Employee's Notification Preference
To modify an individual employee's notification preference:
- Log into the ALICE Portal as an ALICE User or ALICE Administrator.
- Navigate to the Employees tab under the Directory Management's Directory section.
- Find the employee whose notification option will be modified and click the blue pencil icon to edit the Employee Listing.
- Use the "Notification Preference" drop-down menu to select which notification type the employee will receive.
- Click Save. The changes will take effect in the next 60 minutes or once the ALICE Directory software has been restarted.
Bulk Updating Employee Notification Preferences
To modify multiple employee notification preferences at once:
- Log into the ALICE Portal as an ALICE User or ALICE Administrator.
- Navigate to the Employees tab under the Directory Management's Directory section.
- Verify the correct Location and Company you want to modify are selected at the top of the screen.
- In the top right corner of the screen, select the Export option. An export of your Employees will be downloaded.
- Open the file in Excel or CSV file-compatible software.
- In the Preference Column, modify the value of an employee's row to one of the following values:
- 0 = SMS Primary Number
- 1 = SMS Secondary Number
- 2 = SMS Mobile Number
- 3 = Email
- 4 = Slack
- 5 = Teams Channel
- 6 = Teams User
- Save the file. The file must remain in the CSV format.
- In the top right corner of the Employee tab, select the Import option.
- Select Browse and select the modified export file from the Windows Explorer pop-up window.
- Check the "Update Existing Records" option.
- Select Import.
- A notification that the import is successful will appear in the top right corner of the screen. The changes will take effect in 60 minutes or once the ALICE Directory software has been restarted.
