ALICE Receptionist Network Configuration Options

This article reviews the different configuration options for ALICE's cloud and local system configurations.

For ALICE Receptionist software to operate, the customer must apply the necessary permissions to their corporate firewall or proxy servers.

The network rules required depend on the configuration of the ALICE Receptionist installation. There are two major configurations to consider.

Communication Options

ALICE Cloud Communications

The ALICE Cloud communication services will handle calls placed through the ARD.

Local Communications

Calls placed through the ALICE Directory will be handled through your organization’s SIP-enabled phone system. Your team must provide a SIP extension for each ALICE Kiosk installed in your organization.

Data Storage Options

ALICE Cloud Data Storage

Application data is stored on the ALICE Cloud servers. Employee contact information and other content displayed on the ALICE Directory are managed using the ALICE Portal.

Local Data Storage

Application data is stored on an ALICE Database on your organization’s network. Employee contact information and other content displayed on the ALICE Directory is managed using the ALICE Local Administration application installed on an administrator’s PC.

Possible Communications and Data Storage Combinations

Communication and data storage options are separate configurations, so four types of systems can be configured:

  • ALICE Cloud data storage (Rules) / ALICE Cloud communications (Rules)

  • Local data storage (Rules) / ALICE Cloud communications (Rules)

  • ALICE Cloud data storage (Rules) / Local communications (Rules)

  • Local data storage (Rules) / Local communications (Rules)
