Dymo Print Jobs Stuck in the Queue Preventing Badge Printing
This guide will walk through the driver uninstall and registry clearing process for the Dymo LabelWriter 450 if the printer queue will not clear.
Uninstalling the Dymo Drivers
- Uninstall Dymo-related printer software using Add or Remove Programs
- Unplug the printer from the ALICE Directory PC.
- Power off the printer and remove the labels.
- Navigate to the Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the Dymo printer and select See what's printing to verify if print jobs are stuck in the queue.
- Right-click the printer again and select Remove Device.
- Remove any additional instances of the Dymo LabelWriter from the printer list. Copies of the Dymo printer are typically named "Label Writer 450 copy1."
- Open the Windows search field (Windows button + 'S' key) and search for Services.
- Locate "Printer Spooler."
- Right-click the Printer Spooler and select Restart.
- Return to the Devices and Printers section through the Control Panel and select any printer under the printers section.
- At the top of the page, a new menu bar will appear. Select Print server properties.
- In the new pop-up window, click the Drivers tab.
- Select the Dymo driver from the list, then click Remove...
- In the new pop-up window, select the "Remove driver only" option and click OK.
- If the driver does not remove, return to Step 7 and retry the process.
Cleaning the Registry
- Open the Windows search field (Windows button + 'S' key) and search for Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following locations and delete all LabelWriter printer folders.
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Print/Printers
- HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Print/Printers
Reconnecting the Dymo Printer
- Restart the ALICE Directory PC.
- Power on the Dymo Printer and connect it to the ALICE Directory PC.
- Reinstall the Dymo LabelWriter Printer Drivers.
- Navigate to Devices and Printers again and perform a test print.
- If the print is successful, relaunch the ALICE Directory and perform a visitor check-in to verify visitor badge printing is successful.
