No Sound Plays from the ALICE Directory
This article walks through verifying sound configuration settings in Windows, the ALICE software, and the speakerphone.
Windows Sound Settings
- On the ALICE Kiosk PC, navigate to Windows' Sound settings.
- Verify the output device is selected as one of the following.
- Anker Power S330
- Phoenix Audio MT202pcs
- Plantronics 420
- If your team is using a different speakerphone, verify the brand and select it.
- Check the "Volume" setting and verify it's not set to 0. 60-70 is recommended.
- In related settings, select Sound Control Panel.
- Under the "Playback Tab," right-click the device and select the Test option to verify the sound output.
Speakerphone Hardware
If no sound plays after troubleshooting in Windows, the next will be to test the hardware.- Locate the speakerphone device and check the following:
- Check to make sure the speakerphone is plugged in.
- If the device is connected through USB, an auxiliary cable is not necessarily needed. Talk to your support representative if you have questions about your configuration.
- If there is a mute button, verify it is not enabled.
- If the device has a physical button to adjust volume, increase the volume.
- Check to make sure the speakerphone is plugged in.
- In Windows' Sound settings, right click the speakerphone and select Test.
ALICE Software Audio Settings
If audio play in Windows, but the ALICE Software still doesn't play sound, verify the correct audio devices are selected in the ALICE software.- Launch the ALICE Configuration on the ALICE Kiosk.
- Navigate to the Components section.
- Check the Components section to ensure the speakerphone devices is selected for audio input/output.
