Olea Kiosk Handset Configuration

This document provides wiring and configuration instructions for an OLEA kiosk with a attached handset for calling conversations.

The handset accessory includes a switch that controls power to the kiosk base speakers based on cradle position. 

  • Handset OFF cradle: Power to the kiosk base speakers is cut. Audio routes to the handset earpiece, and the handset mouthpiece becomes the active microphone. 
  • Handset ON cradle: Power to the kiosk base speakers is restored. Audio routes back to the kiosk base speakers, and no microphone is available. 

This article covers the components, wiring, and PC/ALICE configuration required to set this up correctly. 

Components

  • Olea Kiosk base with speakers

  • Handset attachment

  • Audio Amp

  • Lenovo PC with one headphone jack

Below is a diagram of the necessary cables and cable splitters needed for this configuration to work correctly.

Wiring Instructions

Olea Kiosk Base Speakers

Two speakers are mounted into the front of the Olea kiosk. Each speaker has one red wire and one black wire that run to the audio amp.

Handset Attachment

The handset has two wires that feed from the handset into the base of the kiosk.

Wire #1 carries two wire pairs:

  • Yellow/White pair (9mm end): Plugs into cable splitter #2

  •  Red/Black pair (9mm end): Plugs into the microphone end of cable splitter #1. .

Wire #2 is a red wire pair that controls power to the audio amp: 

  • Red wire #1 connects to the audio amp's power adapter. 
  • Red wire #2 connects to the power adapter that plugs into the electrical outlet. 

Lenovo PC (Headphone Jack)

  • The Lenovo PC has one headphone jack on the front of the unit. Plug cable splitter #1 into this jack.

  • Plug cable splitter #2 into the headphone connector on cable splitter #1.

  • Plug the red/black wire pair from the handset (Wire #1, step 2 above) into the microphone connector on cable splitter #1. 

Audio Amp

  • The audio amp has two speaker wire pairs, one for each speaker mounted on the Olea kiosk (see Component 1 above).
  • The audio amp has a red and white 9mm plug that connects to cable splitter #2.
  • The audio amp has two sets of red/black speaker wires: one set connects to the left kiosk speaker, and the other connects to the right kiosk speaker on the Olea kiosk door.

Windows PC Audio Settings

 Disable all input and output devices except the following:

  • Output: Realtek(R) Audio
  • Input: Realtek(R) Audio

In the ARD configuration, set the following devices: 

Configure the ARD Configurations to use the following devices:

  • Audio Input Device: Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio)
  • Audio Output Device: Headphones (Realtek(R) Audio)

Handset Windows Sound Settings 2

Expected Behavior

  • Handset ON cradle: Audio plays through the kiosk speakers. No microphone is available. 
  • Handset OFF cradle: Audio plays through the handset earpiece, and the handset mouthpiece functions as the microphone for calls.
