"Directory Registration Key Appears to be Invalid" On Existing ALICE Directory Installation

This article troubleshoots issues where the user receives "Directory Registration Key Appears to be Invalid" on a system with an existing license key installed.

If the license file becomes corrupt from the PC being improperly shut down, it may need to be deleted so a new License file can be created.

Before performing the below process, we recommend backing up your ALICE Directory files.

  1. On the ALICE Kiosk PC, navigate to
    • C:\ProgramData\WinTech LLC\Alice\Directory
  2. Delete the file titled "AliceLic".
  3. Launch the ALICE Configuration.
  4. Re-enter your License Key.
  5. Click Finish to relaunch the ALICE Directory.
