Clean Installation of the ALICE Receptionist Software
This article walks through a clean installation of the ALICE Receptionist software, deleting all ALICE program files.
If you have employees using the ALICE Client (ARC) software, their software will need to be upgraded along with the ALICE Kiosk software.
Backing Up the ALICE Software
Some settings on the ALICE Software are stored locally on the ALICE kiosk. If you would like to retain these files, follow the below steps:
- Create a backup folder for the ALICE software settings.
- We recommend creating an additional folder inside with a date in the folder name.
- This article will use "C:\ALICE Backups\[Today’sDate]\" for any example file locations.
- Inside that folder, create the following subfolders and copy the following file locations into them:
- x86
- Copy C:\Program Files (x86)\WinTech LLC
- ProgramData
- Copy C:\ProgramData\WinTech LLC
- AppData
- Copy %AppData%\WinTech LLC\
- x86
If AVM version installed is lower than 5.4, then the AVM configuration settings will not restore with the latest version of the ALICE Software.
Please contact support to help convert the settings to the latest version.
Uninstall the ALICE Software
- Open Add or Remove Programs in Windows and uninstall the following applications:
- ALICE Directory
- Uninstall all additional ALICE Language Packs
- AVM
The uninstall wizard does not entirely remove the ALICE software. Follow the steps below to uninstall the software.
- ALICE Directory
- Delete these folders in the following locations on the system.
This will delete all local settings files for the ALICE Software. If you have not backed up the files as described earlier in this article and wish to retain your settings, perform the backup process at the beginning of this article.
- C:\ProgramData\WinTech LLC
- C:\Program Files (x86)\WinTech LLC
- %AppData%\WinTech LLC\
- %LocalAppData%\WinTech LLC\
- %LocalAppData%\Temp
Installing the ALICE Software
- Download and install the latest software from the portal. The following software should be downloaded:
- ALICE Directory
- Additional Language Installers
- AVM
- If you are re-installing with no backed-up settings, launch the ALICE Configuration tool and follow the configuration process.
- To restore your settings, continue with the below process.
Restoring Backed Up Settings
- Launch the ALICE Configuration tool.
- Enter your license key when prompted.
- If a License Key is not requested, a clean installation wasn't performed.
- Once the ALICE Configuration tool launches, close the ALICE Configuration application.
- Restore your backup settings.

Finalizing Settings
Launch the ALICE Configuration application and verify that your settings look correct and that the SIP Test Connection in the Communications tab is successful.
When finished, click on Finish to launch the ALICE Directory.
